Whether a diamond sparkles is the result of the combined effect of the diamond’s fire and brightness. Only diamonds with both fire and brightness will look more sparkly.

The fire brightness of a diamond is a comprehensive expression of the quality of the diamond. The fire brightness of a diamond is affected by the size, color, clarity, cut and fluorescence of the diamond. There is no accurate value to represent the fire brightness, but the fire brightness of the diamond will not be bad if the above aspects are controlled well.

To buy a more sparkly diamond, you need to consider the following aspects comprehensively:

Choose the appropriate color grade: The color of the diamond has a great influence on its sparkle. Generally speaking, diamonds of grades D to F are colorless to nearly colorless, and such diamonds have a strong ability to reflect light, so they look more sparkly. Although diamonds of grades G to J are relatively cheap, they may have a slight yellow tint, which affects the sparkle of the diamond. Therefore, in order to pursue the sparkle of the diamond, it is recommended to choose diamonds of grades D to F.

Consider the cut of the diamond: Cut is another important factor that affects the sparkle of the diamond. Well-cut diamonds can reflect and refract light to the maximum extent, making the diamonds look more sparkling. Choosing diamonds with a 3EX cut grade, that is, diamonds with excellent cut, polish and symmetry, can ensure the maximum sparkle of the diamond. At least diamonds with a cut grade of VG (good) should be selected to avoid choosing diamonds with poor quality cuts, because poorly cut diamonds may appear dull.

For GIA diamond 3EX data selection, the following can be appropriately selected↓

· Table width ratio 57%~60%
· Girdle thickness ratio 3.5%~4.0%
· Crown angle is the most standard 34.5°, allowing a floating of 1°, that is, 33.5°~35.5° is better
· Pavilion depth ratio 43.5% is the most standard, allowing a floating of about 1% is better

Pay attention to the size of the diamond: within a certain range, the larger the diamond, the higher its sparkle is usually. Therefore, if the budget allows, choosing a slightly larger diamond can increase its visual sparkle. Of course, this requires finding a balance between budget and personal preference.

Pay attention to the clarity of the diamond: Although clarity mainly affects the number and visibility of internal flaws in the diamond, diamonds with higher clarity allow light to pass more freely, reducing the chance of light being blocked, thereby increasing the diamond’s brilliance to a certain extent. However, the direct effect of clarity on brilliance is relatively small, so when choosing, the main consideration should be whether the clarity meets your personal expectations of the purity of the diamond.

Avoid choosing specific optical effects: Diamonds with milk coffee green effects should be avoided, as these effects may absorb or scatter light, thereby reducing the brilliance of the diamond. When purchasing, the diamond should be carefully checked for these effects.

In summary, in order to buy a more sparkling diamond, you should give priority to diamonds with higher color grades (D to F), cuts of 3EX or at least VG, appropriate sizes, and higher clarity within your budget, while avoiding diamonds with milk coffee green effects.
